Tom Nelis
Mr Nelis has appeared on Broadway in GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY, INDECENT, THE VISIT, ENRON, THE CAINE MUTINY COURT MARTIAL, and AIDA.
Off Broadway he has been seen in Socrates, Road Show, Richard III, Henry VI - title role, ‘Tis Pity She’s A Whore and American Document (with The Martha Graham Company) and Henry IV at the Public Theater; Doris to Darlene at Playwrights Horizons; Ipheginia 2.0 and Hot ‘N’ Throbbin at The Signature Theater; Orlando and most recently Passion at The Classic Stage Company; The Merchant of Venice, The Broken Heart and The Jew of Malta for Theater for a New Audience and The Royal Shakespeare Company; The Medium and Score for New York Theater Workshop, Ahab in Laurie Anderson's Songs and Stories from Moby Dick at The Brooklyn Academy of Music, Gross Indecencies at Mineta Lane, and Hot Mouth at the Manhattan Theater Club. He has additionally performed at international festivals around the world with Richard Foreman, Laurie Anderson, and The SITI Co and including The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Suzuki Company of Toga as well as at Regional Theaters throughout the country.
Mr. Nelis is a founding member of SITI Company. He has been awarded an Eliot Norton Award for Prospero in The Tempest, an OBIE for THE MEDIUM, a Drama League Nomination for SCORE, a San Diego Critics Ensemble Award for WINTERTIME, and a Barrymore Nomination for CANDIDE.
Nelis taught Acting for 20 years with SITI company and additionally held adjunct positions at Barnard, Princeton, and The University of Pennsylvania. He earned his MFA at UC San Diego.
